Civil War
  • OJ: Guthrie are u watching Carrick? do u still think he shouldn't be sold?
  • Hanish: what about berba-flop? we spent 30 mill on him what did guthrie say about wasting money? trust me oj we wont win anything away form is pathetic I WANT CHANGE
  • OJ: There's too many ordinary players esp in midfield. WTF...I know passing was never Fletcher's strongest point but he seems to be regressing. Carrick is a waste of space. I swear I wanna punch his face. Gibboo, need I say more hit and hope s...tyle of passing is pissing me off. The lack of creativity in midfield is shocking. We have enough players if we need midfield bodies to stifle. What we need is 1 or 2 players who can create and keep possession.
  • Hanish: you know what id pay spurs 30 mill plus berbatov for modric don't you think our attack is like midfield too? having too forwards that like to drop deep will never work even a retard would notice
  • OJ: I would pay Spurs 30m to take Michael Carrick back. I think the attack is good. Somehow Rooney and Berba work when they both play together.plus we have Chicharito on the bench. Would really love to see us going for Lukaku. Modric would be awesome but it all depends on Spurs not getting into Europe. Wot do u feel about Hazard?
  • Me: ‎*sighs* Dechamps' assessment of our current squad is correct: as effective as we are, we lack 'fantasy.' I'd only be regurgitating the same points that I made in the past, but since you asked, let me re-emphasise my points. Berbatov hasn't scored in the Champions League in a while and somehow that negates every other awesome thing that he's done for us in attack. It's not just Rooney he partners well with... it's Hernandez, as well. Berbatov is NOT a waste of money, I maintain that with vehement rigour. Consider what our attack would be like WITHOUT him. Only you, OJ. I'd rather not hear any of Hanish's bullshit, considering he thinks he knows how to manage a football club after playing loads of FIFA and Football Manager. On to Carrick and Gibson: Carrick is a good player. I swear: the amount of people that give him so much stick NOW weren't opening their fat mouths since the transfer fee was announced. I hear the discontent but no one has pointed out what it is exactly about his game that they dislike; a typical trait of the modern-day football fan. The only thing I have to criticise about his game is simple: he has tunnel vision, meaning that unlike [say] Kaka, he doesn't have that supernatural ability to know where everyone on the pitch is. He's also not the best dribbler in the world. Having said that, when he is looking up, he can put the ball where ever he wants to. He crosses well, if given the chance. He's a strong midfielder, he tackles well - something the legend that is the Ginger Prince DOESN'T do - and he can score well, when he's in the mood. He's a good holding and box-to-box midfielder. He's NOT Kaka... but he'll do. Gibson is also a decent player. I maintain that if he had the same amount of first team opportunities that Anderson has gotten, he'd be better than him. Hit-and-hope passing style? Complete and utter bollocks, OJ. Just look to the first half of the Crawley Town match and he was serving up chances for Obertan and Hernandez in particular. Not his fault they didn't finish them. Had they done so, we'd have beaten them by at least three-four goals. Gibson also has a tremendous foot on him. No wonder Trap has said time and again that he needs to leave to get first team football. If he leaves us, he'd only flourish and we'd be looking at the next Diego Forlan in our midst: a brilliant player that we didn't give enough chances to tune and perfect his game. You can talk about all the prospects you'd like to see wear the shirt until you're blue in the bloody face but the bottom line is: if they don't meet YOUR asinine expectations, you'll moan/whinge/bitch/complain until their gone... like many a-fan before you.
  • OJ: I wouldn't consider Berba a waste. I DO question his overall effectiveness. Like Hansh pointed out, 13 of his goals have come in 4 matches and he has what, 4 away lge goals? No Champions league goal in 2yrs but like I said, I'm fine with the attack. Gibson put in 2 fantastic balls against Crawley and somehow that makes him top of the pops? Sorry, I disagree. Saying he hasn't had his chances is rubbish mate. He has. He started well with a couple of bullet like shots but even that can't cover up his wastefulness in possession. Speaking of wastefulness in possession. Michael Carrick. His 'passing' is completely atrocious now. Since the Barcelona debacle, he seems to have had a loss in confidence and with that, form. Even Fergie lost confidence in him and he only plays cos of limited options. When we're playing 2 up front, our mid is fletcher and scholes. Carrick was meant to replace scholes as d deep lying playmaker but can't get anywhere near him.
  • Me: OJ, you misunderstand: I never said that performance alone makes him heir to the throne. He's not always consistent but he's only made 26 appearances since coming into the side in 2005. You know how many Anderson has? 66 - and he arrived just under four years ago (2007). So: no. He hasn't had as many chances as you think he has. Dare I point out that Gibson has scored [and possibly] taken more shots than Anderson, too? It's a good thing you brought up the "Barcelona debacle." Really, it's beside the point but whatever. Firstly, it wasn't a debacle, we were well and truly beaten. Ronaldo - once again - continued to show how much of a big-match player he was by showing the same petulance that we all got used to in the first three years of his tenure (pre-42 goal bonanza). Was he still worth £80m to Real Madrid. Yep. *shrugs* Rooney, now. What a terrible run of form he had since the injury he picked up pre-World Cup until round about the time he picked up a brace against Aston Villa. We kept him because - like him or not - had we sold him, the dressing room would had the same atmosphere that J.K. Rowling detailed in the Harry Potter books whenever a dementor comes gliding in. That was a tactical move by Fergie... and good on him for doing that. Had it been me, I would've given him exactly what he asked for and flogged the boy off faster than some pseudo-antique on Bargain Hunt. :-P My point is this: Carrick may be reduced to the role of a squad player but the flak he's gotten since his dip in confidence is remarkably similar to the shit John O'Shea got a couple of years ago. My point still stands: when Carrick overcomes his demons for even a second, he's a sight to behold. Hence why we still have him on the team sheet. When his confidence has been restored, he'll be a regular first-teamer again. Simples.
  • OJ: When I said debacle, I meant Carrick and the goal he gifted barca. Even before then, Carrick is a poor man's Scholes and would never really have cut it. He's too lackadaisical and his technique and passing is not as top notch as it should b...e. He can't keep being United's weak link in midfield. On Gibboo. Fine, I appreciate he hasn't had so much playing time and it's more difficult for a player coming through than one bought. Still, his performances against lower class opposition is truly woeful and if he can't be trusted then, why should he be trusted against better sides? He's had his opportunities and been wasteful. I guess we have to agree to disagree mate. I see where you're coming from but we've been utterly poor this season, performance wise. The reliance on Giggs and Scholes is apparent and shocking. The young players don't seem like they can cut it. I'd be surprised if Fergie doesn't sell the lot. Gibboo, Carrick, Obertan, Bebe. Flog em alll Fergie, flog em all. Lol
  • Me: nods* What's apparent to me, at least, is that most fans are largely impatient to see the finished product that Gibson, Obertan, and Bebe are capable of delivering. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out... at Old Trafford. Still, if we sell the lot, we'd do well to find adequate replacements. AND we'd have to start the whole process over from scratch. Is that really productive? *shrugs* Only time will tell. I also disagree with the belief that relying on Giggsy and Scholes is "shocking." They can STILL do the damn thing... more importantly, they WANT to. So why not play them? *shrugs* It's remarkable that they can still do it. So let them. Furthermore, Giggs has already said that he believes in the youth players we have but it will take time. It took time with Ronaldo, remember. Nani's not exactly there yet, but he's getting there too. Patience is the key. Finally, our performance level: I remember when Inter Milan played this kind of "negative" football back in the day. It was effective. It wasn't dazzling, it wasn't awe-spiring all the time, but it was effective. When you look at the table, and see our names at the top of it, the complaints about the style of play are down to opinion/preference. We could play like Arsenal, but then we'd be left chasing the leaders... like they are right now. So no, it hasn't been shocking. Again, Dechamps is right on the money: we play effective football but it lacks 'fantasy.' Houllier said the same thing and added that the critisism about the style of our play this season is pretty much baseless... but yeah. We'll agree to disagree, mate. ;-)

liberation and optimism

with all the sunsets mine eyes have been blessed with,
with all of the stars my eyes have intercepted
with all of the countless faults encountered in the walls
of my heart and the darkness surrounding

i stand in the name of…

how many flowery fields that i’ve ran through
have suddenly turned to nothing but acres of ashes?
how many times has my spirit been liberated
and re-enslaved by the hordes of romantic facists?
and how many more miles must these weary feet
tread; must these veins be bled dry to bottle the
feeling so many are recieving day and night?
it’s all right.

i fight in the name of…

we just might get through it this time
so fly with me through these storm-threatning clouds…
we just might make it out alive
the way we slalom through the lightning
would make even Zeus proud…
we’ve been through most of it
we’ve cremated the ghost of it
so help me find the storm’s evasive eye…

it’ll get better by and by…

and i’ll be able to stand, proclaiming
i did it.
for us.
in the name of…

Damnation

i am stretch armstrong…
i am the seemingly invulnerable hero that can take
any amount of strain or pressure
i am the rope you play tug-of-war with
i am your downfall… the benefactor to your misery…
i am the succubus that’s been drawing strength from your happiness
for so long
i am the destructive weapon that left your heart
in ruins
i am the “boy” your parents warned you about
i am the demise you’ll soon see in your next premonition…

and all i did was make you happy… at least so it seemed
and time and again, you told me i was “the man of
your dreams”
and i paid no mind when you ranted about men like
me being in such short supply
and you always admired my character, and i still don’t
understand why… why… why
must i be the one to decide where this is
supposed to go; you’re throwing down ultimatums while i throw myself
headlong from the bell tower
you go your own way and i’ll go straight to
hell

i am what’s wrong with your world…
i am damnation.

The Drifter

you’ll find me mingling with the ones and noughts, speaking
a gibberish dialect
in the same place our eyes intersect, where a somewhat forbidden
attraction manifests, between you and i
the feeling becomes all the more glorious, ignoring
other couples who pretend to be ignoring us
…our love, life in the fast lane…
acending higher than jet planes, as the moments
we share stay on full rotation on the turntables
of our minds
a sudden impact, and suddenly i’m nowhere near
bliss, or at least that’s the illusion that sends a poisonous
confusion to have me thinking i’d like to believe that…
wondering constantly which way the weeping willow will
descide to sigh
crying softly inside the incubation of my duvet, gripped
by the vices of ‘what-ifs’ and ‘i-should-haves’
and so we sing the hymn of our final confrontation:
‘i remain constant and forever headstrong on the frontlines
of a battle neither of us can win…’
so with the snap and click of the padlock installed
in my mind, i stand resolutely for what has already fallen
i pledge my allegiance to a lost cause
i shoot straight towards the dreamers’s ideal
my white flag is blowing in the wind’s caress, but not
as a signal of intent,
no…
but as free form ashes, drifting towards
it’s new residence on the ground we tread
and bled upon…
my sword’s weilded, my shield’s useless… we
stand at opposite ends of the battleground, snarling
as if we’re two predators fighting over fresh meat…

enough is enough. engarde… in the name of what’s already dead.
engarde… in the name of what’s already gone.

...for what it's worth, you're not alone.

your axioms are the lights on the skyline of my recent thoughts,
complimented with the haunting vocals of enya
your eyes are the glitch i overlooked in the time-space continuum,
further adding more reasons why i should shut up and surrender;
my heart cast out onto the embers of a quiet flame, stoking fantasies
of pleasure whilst invoking spirits of pain, eternally reminding me

i’m offshore…

hold on to your condolences for this bleached bottle nosed
dolphin of a young man, for my soul barely notices any sort
of sympathetic or empathetic breach,
still too damn scared to overstand

still offshore…

left with nothing but a system pop-up from the brain saying
“virtual memory getting low” so it adds another page to line the walls
of the cage affectionately known as my sanity, positioned
strategically between the earth and the pinnacle of the rubble
lain waste from my self-inflicted catastrophe

…and this will be my resting place…
between the two lines of a blank page,
between the alpha and the omega of the crack in a
cobblestone path,
between heaven, hell, and purgatory…

forever in transit
…amen

Last Hurrah

standing on the jagged edge of the horizon,
reviewing the rhinestone littered ocean, suddenly
it hits me like a bullet train, travelling non-stop to Ipswich…

i think i’m in love with you.
but not for the first time… in fact,
what started as an infatuation has evolved into
something amazingly passionate,
furiously adamant on proving one’s feelings,
revealing what we thought was cremated and scattered
over the long, long ago, arose from it’s fertile tomb,
entered reincarnation’s womb and blessed us with a finished
product… beyond refurbished,
beyond varnished,
and no longer tarnished with the image of smoldering rubble
and the stench of dead flesh piled up like garbage… no.

we’re past that. it’s in our embraces, the bright smiles on our faces,
the invisible tears of joy… yeah, they’re invisible to you,
but i swear i always feeling them welling up and overflooding…
and it happens when i’m present inside the inner
sanctum of your loving. THIS is our nirvana.
THIS is our mecca. there’s not a second that goes by
where i’m not intoxicated with the aroma of your persona
that liberated my aching spirit.

freed from this aggressive disease,
and by aggressive, i mean a cancer constantly on
the offensive and besting the immune systems tactics.
my heart is getting it’s ass kicked,
leaving my bloodstream blue and white like a Lactic…
trapped in your labyrinth…
and i couldn’t be happier.

so this it what it sounds like when God’s shooting stars…

Saving Failing Hearts

the dreams that i have are premonitions
haunting, sepia coloured visions
eyes closed, in transit
for a blue flame of passion
fall apart at the axels, while the thought
is processed like cat food
hold me…
it’s getting increasingly dark
your faith may just save a slowly failing heart
the key to the floodgates is deep inside your right pupil
your movements are pictures scripted through kama sutra
i want to fill you up with hints of a time
in the nearby future where we are inclined
to climb this tryst’s cliffs and
sip on a vintage romance, hold hands,
and continue to taste the remainder from each others
lips and wish upon Orion’s belt:
“help me to be patient, as my
heart starts racing with anticipation
of making a pact to act upon my
initial feelings…”
i’m reeling from this battle
braving it, unarmed against this strange new craving…
my newborn favourite…
left vulnerable and in plain view like a
bench in the middle of the park
i’ll be kind as i try to save our failing hearts…

There and Back Again

you’re a constant source of inspiration…
please excuse the slight exaggeration, but
i need you to know, wherever your
heart resides…
i want to go there and back again.

i’m completely hypnotized by your aura,
the warmth of your soul in the room
travels to every corner,
ans when i stare into your eyes…
i want to go there and back again.

your inner, as well as outer, beauty drives me
insane and…
i find myself silently weeping
at the sound of your name
it’s all joy, completely void of pain
and wherever you stand in my life…

i want to go there and back again.

the flower

you couldn’t have picked a better time to blossom
…or did you actually have the luxury of deciding when
you’d evolve into something this awesome?

from the moment your petals were unfurled and
exposed to this world, mine went into complete
disarray. A beautiful calamity wrought such
wonderful chaos… there was no pain.

the heart did tremor for but a moment,
thus a moment of brief discomfort
and Lo… a soaring sensation!
the heart gave birth to wings

with a wingspan so grand, an albatross would
hang it’s head in humility
it flew, determined to make the stratosphere
the location of its new domain
accompanied with the sights and scent
of you…  petals red like rubies with traces of sapphire blue

you, most precious flower in the garden.

"Whadda ya want fer yer birfday?!"

Well, thanks for asking so politely.  It’s been… eons and eons since I last compiled a birthday wishlist.  Just for a laugh and for the sake of reviving a cliché yet classic activity, I figured I’d do it one more time.  Y’know… on the off-chance anyone actually gets me something off this list. :-D

  1. Beats™ Solo™HD (PRODUCT)RED™ Special Edition High Definition On-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk™

  2. iPod Touch 4th Generation - 32 GB

  3. Motorola Xoom

  4. Sony PSP 3000 (Pearl White)

  5. 250 GB Halo: Reach Limited Edition Xbox 360 Console

  6. Gift Cards to the following stores: ThinkGeek.com, GAME, Niketown, Marks & Spencer, H&M

But what I REALLY want for my birthday, more than anything in the world…

…is to bombard my little girl with a plethora of hugs and kisses…

…and remind her how much Daddy loves her.

That’s what I want for my birthday, ladies and germs.  Make it happen. ;-)
